Moth Themed Shadow Display Box with Clear Scraps

 Hello Crafty Friends - Annie here with a moth themed Shadow Box featuring products from Clear Scraps. I was inspired to create this shadow box for my daughter. She loves Moths and color green and gold. So, I decided to create this fun moth themed shadow box.

Supplies Used:

DIY 12x12 Wood shadow Box

Recollection Brand 12x12 Pad: Colors of Autumn

Accent Paint: Olive Green

Craft Smart Metallic Paint: Bright Gold

Mod Podge Paper: Matte Finish

Wood Glue

Bearly Art GLue

Masking Tape

Moth Dies

Various Specialty Papers

Tiny Gold Rhinestones

Sakura Metallic Gel Pen: Gold

Tools: Paint Brushes, & Craft Knife

Step 1: I start by adhering the pattern paper to the base of the DIY 12x12 Wood shadow Box. I used the Mod Podge to adhere the paper. I make sure to smooth out any wrinkles.

Step 2: I trim away the edges of the base using a crafty knife. Then, I do a thin coat of the Mod Podge over the entire base set it aside to dry.

Step 3: I paint all the outter pieces and inner pieces of the DIY 12x12 Wood shadow Box with the Olive Green paint. I used acrylic paint so it dries pretty quickly. I paint both sides allowing each side to dry before moving on to the next. Set them aside to dry.

Step 4: Once dry I assemble the innter pieces and paint the edges with the Metallic Gold Paint. I set it aside to dry and work on the rest of the box.

Step 5: I start adhering the outer pieces to the box. I used wood glue to make sure the box is sturdy. I start with the top and one side. Then I insert the inner part of the box before I continue to adhere the bottom and other side panel. Once I have all the pieces in place I use some masking tape to hold all the pieces together until they are completely dry.

Step 6: While the box is dry I die cut two moths from the specialty papers and I adhere them together. I used shades of green for the wings and navy for the body. I accented the wings with gold cardstock and gold rhinestones. I did add a bit of gel pen details to the bodies.

Step 7: Once the box was finally dry I removes the masking tape and paint the outer edge with gold paint. I added the moths to the top and bottom corners of the box for a finishing touch. I love how the metallic accent shine. The pattern paper, the moths and the box all have the touch of gold.

The box is now complete and ready to be filled with all the small teasures!
