Hello Summer Card with Clear Scraps

Hello Crafty Friends - Annie here - Let's bring on the sunshine with this bright and cheerful Hello Summer Card! Featuring soft popsicle patterns, layered die cuts, and a glittery summer treat, this card is perfect for sending warm-weather greetings to friends and family.

Supplies

  • Embellishments Chipboard Punchouts Summer
  • Yellow Cardstock
  • Dark Yellow Cardstock
  • White Cardstock
  • Specialty Shimmer Paper - Yellow
  • Popsicle Pattern Paper
  • Turquoise Pattern Paper
  • Acrylic Paints: Yellow, Turquoise, and White
  • Various Dies
  • Tiny Gems
  • Bearly Art Glue
  • Foam Tabs
  • Paint Brush

Instructions

Step 1: Create the Card Base

Cut a piece of yellow cardstock to create an A2-sized card base (4¼" x 5½"). Set aside.

Step 2: Die Cut the Layers

Using your various dies, cut:

  • A large stitched rectangle from yellow cardstock for the background panel.
  • A long decorative panel from white cardstock for the center of the card.
  • Two accent pieces from pattern papers to layer behind your focal elements.
  • A die cut doily from white cardstock.

Step 3: Add Summer Color

Using a paint brush, apply acrylic paints to the punched out words:

  • Turquoise for cool accents.
  • Yellow for sunny highlights.

Allow the paint to dry completely before assembling.

Step 4: Create the Focal Image

Choose a popsicle from the Summer Chipboard Punchouts. Add a bit of glue to the popsicle and place the specialty paper onto it. The texture of the paper creates a frosty summer look. I let dry then I trimmed the extra paper.

Step 5: Build the Card Front

Next, I adhered the die cut pattern paper to the white cardstock(2-1/4"x5-1/4"). I centered and adhered the popsicle paper onto the white cardstock strip and then adhered the turquoise paper allow a bit of space between the papers.

Adhere the yellow background panel to the card base.

Step 6: Add the Sentiment

Attach the "Hello" from the Summer Puchout Chipboard word near the top of the center panel. I added the Summer Word just below the hello.

Step 7: Finish the Focal Point

I adhere the popsicle chipboard punchout on top of the doily. I placed the doily element toward the lower right side of the card. I used foam tabs to make it stand out.

Step 8: Embellish

Scatter several tiny gems around the card front to add sparkle and visual balance.

Step 9: Complete Your Card

Check that all layers are secure and enjoy your bright summer-inspired creation!

Supplies Used

Instructions

Create the Card Base
Cut blue cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and fold in half to create an A2 card base.

Build the Background Layers
Trim a red cardstock panel slightly smaller than the card front and adhere it to the base.
Next, trim a white cardstock panel smaller than the red layer and attach it centered on top.

Emboss the Chipboard Sentiment
Ink the “July 4th” chipboard word with VersaMark Ink.
Cover it with Nightsky MBoss Embossing Powder and heat set until smooth and shiny. Repeat if needed for extra coverage and dimension.

Create the Sparkly Stars
Apply VersaMark Ink to the chipboard stars.
Emboss the outer star shapes with Valentine MBoss Embossing Powder and the inner stars with Sparkle MBoss Embossing Powder. Heat set each layer until melted and glossy.

Arrange the Design and Add Finishing Touches
Adhere the embossed “July 4th” sentiment across the upper portion of the card front. Attach the stars with foam adhesive for added depth and dimension. Scatter tiny confetti embellishments around the card front for a festive look and extra sparkle.

Design Tip

Using embossing powder on chipboard creates a bold glossy finish with incredible texture and shine. Layering patriotic colors with glittery elements gives this clean layout a fun celebratory feel without needing complicated techniques.
